Maxime Bernier is a courageous and principled politician who speaks his mind. A man of ideas and convictions, his belief in personal responsibility and freedom is at the heart of his political vision. Over the course of his political career, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to protecting and furthering the freedom and prosperity of Canadians.

Mr. Bernier was born on January 18, 1963, in St-Georges-de-Beauce. In 1985, he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Université du Québec à Montréal and studied Civil Law at the University of Ottawa. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1990.

During his career, Mr. Bernier has had a long-standing interest in business and worked for several financial and banking institutions before becoming Executive Vice-President of the Montreal Economic Institute in 2005.

Later in 2005, friends and family encouraged him to enter politics, where his ideas on freedom, personal responsibility, respect, and fairness could find fertile ground. He took up the challenge and was elected Member of Parliament for Beauce on January 23, 2006, with the largest majority outside Alberta. He was appointed to Stephen Harper’s Cabinet as Minister of Industry.

His success in deregulating major portions of the telecommunications sector prompted the chair of the Political Science department at McGill University, Professor Richard J. Schultz, to write, “In terms of what is perhaps the single most important component of his Industry portfolio, telecommunications, he was without challenge the best Industry Minister in thirty years.”

Mr. Bernier was re-elected in Beauce three times in 2008, 2011, and 2015. During his time in Parliament, he also held the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism posts.

In 2017, he ran for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada and was regarded by the media and popular support as the favourite to win the contest. In a highly controversial final result, Mr. Bernier came second place with 49.05% of the vote in the 13th and final round of voting.

Perceiving that the Conservative Party was too intellectually and morally corrupt to be reformed, Mr. Bernier left the party on August 23, 2018, and founded the People’s Party of Canada on September 14th, 2018.

Mr. Bernier has acted as Leader of the People’s Party of Canada since its founding in 2018. He has championed a positive and energetic vision for Canada that stands apart from the languid status quo of the political establishment.

Mr. Bernier provided a voice for large swathes of the Canadian populace against tyrannical government policies during the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020-2022. In his fight for personal freedom against extreme and unconstitutional government overreach, Mr. Bernier was fined several times and even arrested by the RCMP on June 11, 2021, in St-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba, after hosting a rally against Manitoba’s unconstitutional restrictions.

Today, Maxime Bernier is the only mainstream and credible Canadian politician speaking out about the grave issues and concerns that will determine Canada’s future, which the political establishment ignores wholesale. These issues include mass immigration and Canadian identity, the Woke Cult and the influence of Cultural Marxists and Radical Leftists over Canadian society, and the dangerous transgender ideology which confuses and sexualizes children being spread in schools across the country.
